Happy Days star Erin Moran was pronounced dead in her home in Indiana yesterday. The Harrison County Sheriff’s Department released a statement regarding her death.
“On April 22, 2017 at approximately 4:07 p.m., the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call that referenced an unresponsive female. Upon the arrival of first responders, it was determined that Erin Marie Moran Fleischmann was deceased and an autopsy is pending,” read the statement.
Erin started acting at the age of six, after she got cast as Jenny Jones in the 1960’s TV show Daktari. At the age of 13, she managed to get the biggest role of her life, after being cast to play Joanie Cunningham on the popular sitcom Happy Days. Moran reprised this role in the Happy Days spin-off series Joanie Loves Chachi.
After both of these shows got canceled, Erin decided to move from Los Angeles to the California mountains. Just a few years later, she revealed that she was suffering from depression and that she was unable to continue acting. Recently, Variety magazine noted that Moran “had fallen on hard times in recent years. She was reportedly kicked out of her trailer park home in Indiana because of her hard-partying ways.”
