Ariana Grande awarded honorary citizenship of Manchester

Congratulations to Ariana Grande!

The 23-year-old singer will be awarded with an honorary citizenship of Manchester – the first of its kind – to mark her outstanding contributions to the city following the tragic terrorist attacks after her concert on May 22.

Ariana Grande’s One Love concert, which she hosted on June 4 at Manchester’s Old Trafford to pay tribute to the victims of the attack, was attended by approximately 55,000 people and raised a staggering £3 million for the victims and their families.

“This seems a fitting moment to update the way we recognise those who make noteworthy contributions to the life and success of our city,” said Manchester council leader Sir Richard Leese.

“We’ve all had cause to be incredibly proud of Manchester and the resilient and compassionate way in which the city, and all those associated with it, have responded to the terrible events of 22 May – with love and courage rather than hatred and fear.”

Well said!

Congrats again, Ariana – we admire her strength and courage!
