Ashley Graham is Vogue’s first plus size cover girl

Ashley Graham is no ordinary cover girl, and the January issue of British Vogue is no ordinary magazine edition. In fact it’s pretty extraordinary… and here’s why.

Ashley Graham has just become the first ever plus size model to grace the cover of fashion bible, British Vogue. This is a pretty gargantuan step for the entire fashion industry… one which we hope will lead other publications to follow in Vogue’s footsteps and branch out as far as their cover stars are concerned.

Although Ashley has featured inside the pages of Vogue in the past (she appeared in the October 2014 Teen Vogue issue, would you believe), this is the first time she has been  given the honour of the cover. Something which she thought would never happen for her…

“For 10 years I’d been told I was always going to be a catalogue girl, never a cover girl,” she said in her British Vogue accompanying interview.

“Well, I got with IMG and did five covers in a year, boom, boom, boom. See, if you have a pretty face doors will open, but your job isn’t just to walk through them, it’s to get invited back.

“Look, I hit the beauty jackpot, I get it, but that’s not enough, you’ve got to have more to have longevity in this business. It’s always been, ‘OK, so what can I do now?’”

We know that the British Vogue cover is going to be pretty tough to beat, but we have faith in her. After all, Vogue did dub her the “woman with attitude”.

We predict big things!
