The Grammys are hot on everyone’s lips this morning, as the nominations have just been announced and it looks like Beyonce is well and truly slaying. They don’t call her Queen Bey for nothing…
Thanks to the roaring success of ‘Lemonade’, Beyonce has bagged herself a staggering nine, yes nine, nominations. This well and truly makes her the most nominated woman for a Grammy in history. Way to go, Bey!
And that’s not all. If she manages to win at least eight of the nine awards she’s up for, she will break the record and steal the crown from Alison Krauss, who has 28 Grammy awards (no biggie!) to her name.
The Grammy’s aren’t just about Beyoncé though. Rihanna, Drake and Kanye West should be pretty proud of themselves too, as they have an impressive eight nominations each. Pretty good going!
Sadly, Kanye West has already revealed that he won’t be attending the Grammy Awards ceremony on Sunday February 12th. This has nothing to do with his recent hospital stay and health issues though.
If you cast your minds back to October, Kanye made it pretty clear that he wouldn’t be attending the Grammys if Frank Ocean wasn’t nominated. And lo and behold, Frank Ocean’s name is nowhere to be seen.
“The album I listened to the most this year is Frank Ocean’s album,” he said in one of his infamous on-stage rants.
“And I will tell you this right now: If his album’s not nominated in no categories, I’m not showing up to the Grammys.”
Well, there you have it. We think Kanye is pretty true to his word, so we’ll be pretty surprised if we spot him on the red carpet. Maybe 2018, Kanye.
