According to the famous musician Carlos Santana, Beyonce is not a real singer. Carlos Santana’s comment will definitely unleash the dogs of war and massive attacks from the BeyHive as the legendary musician offered his opinion when asked why Adele managed to win Album of the Year at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards.
Well, to put it simply, in Carlos Santana’s immortal words, Adele won just because she can sing-sing and that about sums it up folks. I bet that Beyonce never contemplated that idea.
However, to make things worse, Carlos Santana tried to quantify scientifically the differences between Adele’s talent and Beyoncee’s lack thereof. He said, and let me quote the man himself (not a big Beyonce fan as you can imagine) :
“With all respect to our sister Beyoncé, Beyoncé is very beautiful to look at and it’s more like modeling kind of music—music to model a dress—she’s not a singer, singer, with all respect to her.”
It’s worth noticing that Santana is not a bigot nor a hater, as he performed with Beyonce at the Superbowl in 2003 during the pre-game festivities, so his judgment comes from first-hand experience so to speak.
What’s very ironical is that Adele herself believes that the Album of the Year award should have gone to Lemonade, or to Beyonce if you’re not a pop music aficionado. During her acceptance speech, Adele paid homage to Beyonce, talking respectfully about how much her own music/career was influenced by Beyonce’s music.
However, later on, Carlos Santana issued an apology on Facebook:
