The former Partridge Family star recently revealed to People magazine that he’s been battling dementia. This news comes two days after David delivered a disturbing performance onstage, which sparked some concern for his wellbeing. During the performance, the musician slurred his words, forgot his lyrics, and nearly fell of the stage.
David explained how he witnessed both his mother and grandfather suffer from dementia and that he knew that this was coming, even though he was in denial for some time. “In the end, the only way I knew my mother recognized me is with one single tear that would drop from her eye every time I walked into the room. I feared I would end up that way,” he revealed when speaking on his mother’s condition.
Cassidy told People that he was going to retire from performing, and that he is instead going to focus on his health more. “I want to focus on what I am, who I am and how I’ve been without any distractions. I want to love. I want to enjoy life,” David told the magazine.
Before he revealed his condition, a lot of people were concerned that David messed up the performance due to alcohol abuse, with which he had a problem earlier.
