It might not come as a total shock, but Donald Trump appears to have slammed the Me Too movement on, you guessed it, Twitter…
“People’s lives are being shattered and destroyed by a mere allegation,” the President wrote on his favourite social media platform.
“Some are true and some are false. Some are old and some are new. There is no recovery for someone falsely accused – life and career are gone.
“People’s lives are being shattered and destroyed by a mere allegation”
“Is there no such thing any longer as Due Process?”
Although he didn’t directly reference the Me Too movement or use the hashtag, his Tweet came just one day after his staff secretary Rob Porter resigned when his two ex-wives accused him of domestic abuse.
Coincidence? The internet thinks not!
“He says he’s innocent, and I think you have to remember that,” Donald Trump said in Rob Porter’s defence.
“He said very strongly yesterday that he’s innocent,” he added.
However, Trump’s senior advisor Kellyanne Conway has denied that he was referring to Rob Porter in his Tweet…
“He never mentioned the Me Too movement,” she told TMZ.
“The president was talking about due process and how we are a nation of laws and how we respect due process. However, everything should be relied upon on a case by case basis.
“The President knows he’s been victim of false accusers in the past, but that’s got nothing to do with the Porter situation.”
Hmm… we don’t think everyone is convinced. What are your thoughts?
