You might have heard that major retailer Nordstrom has recently decided to drop all of Ivanka Trump’s products from its website.
Well naturally her father, aka the President of the United States of America, had a few things to say about it. He took to Twitter (shock!) to express his disappointment…
“My daughter Ivanka has been treated so unfairly by Nordstrom,” he began. “She is a great person — always pushing me to do the right thing! Terrible!”
Nordstrom were quick to respond to Donald Trump’s Tweet, stating that the decision to stop stocking Ivanka Trump’s products was made a while ago, and was based on poor performance as opposed to anything political…
“To reiterate what we’ve already shared when asked, we made this decision based on performance,” a spokesperson for Nordstrom said in a statement.
“Over the past year, and particularly in the last half of 2016, sales of the brand have steadily declined to the point where it didn’t make good business sense for us to continue with the line for now.
“We’ve had a great relationship with the Ivanka Trump team. We’ve had open conversations with them over the past year to share what we’ve seen and Ivanka was personally informed of our decision in early January.”
Funnily enough, Nordstrom’s sales have actually risen since the decision to stop stocking Ivanka’s products was made public.
Perhaps some of these Tweets had something to do with it…
@BlackGirlNerds: Who’s going shopping at @Nordstrom’s with me this weekend?
@anamariecox : I didn’t NEED an excuse to shop at Nordstrom but..
@jeffjarvis: Damn. I was going to go get lunch. Now I have to go to Nordstrom’s to buy expensive socks to support them in the war against our president.
@JuddApatow If only our so called President listened to her. I love @Nordstrom and will keep shopping there to make a point– and I need slacks!
