Elton John cancels Las Vegas shows after being hospitalised for “potentially deadly infection”

Elton John has been hospitalised for an “unusual” bacterial infection, forcing him to cancel the remainder of his Las Vegas shows for April and May.

The singer was reportedly in hospital for around 12 days – two of which were in intensive care – after contracting a “potentially deadly” infection and feeling “violently ill” on a flight home from South America.

He was released from hospital on Saturday, and is said to make a full recovery. He is “comfortably resting at home per doctor’s advice” according to a statement that was released.

“I am so fortunate to have the most incredible and loyal fans and apologise for disappointing them,” the singer said in the statement.

“I am extremely grateful to the medical team for their excellence in looking after me so well.”

Although the rest of his Las Vegas shows have been cancelled, his performance in Twickenham, England on June 3 is likely to go ahead.

We wish you a speedy recovery, Elton John!
