The legendary singer recently announced that he had to cancel all of his April and May dates in The Million Dollar Piano, as well as a scheduled performance in Bakersfield, California, which was supposed to occur on May 6.
When he announced that he was cancelling these dates, a lot of fans became worried that he may not be in such good health, especially after he noted that he was cancelling the shows due to a rare bacterial infection.
Today, Elton has decided to give an update on his health. “Woke up to an avalanche of well wishes. Thanks to everyone for reaching out. I’m resting well and looking forward to getting back on tour,” the famous singer wrote on Twitter.
Elton’s rep recently released a statement on ABC news that “during a recent, successful tour of South America, Elton contracted a harmful and unusual bacterial infection. During his return flight home from Santiago, Chile, he became violently ill. Upon returning to the UK, Elton’s doctors admitted him to the hospital, where he underwent immediate treatment to remove the infection.”
John’s rep also confirmed that the singer has been comfortably resting at his home since he got released from the hospital on Saturday.
