Despite being friends with the president-elect, Kanye West won’t be performing at Donald Trump’s inauguration. Tom Barrack, the chair of the inauguration committee recently told CNN why the famous rapper won’t be performing at the ceremony.
“We haven’t asked him. He considers himself a friend of the president-elect, but it’s not the venue. The venue we have for entertainment is filled out, it’s perfect, it’s going to be typically and traditionally American, and Kanye is a great guy, but we just haven’t asked him to perform,” said Barrack.
Kanye was seen visiting Donald Trump last month at the Trump Tower. Although this was a shock for some people, Trump noted that the two have been friends for a long time. After being criticized both by fans and his peers for visiting Donald, Kanye tweeted that he met up with the president-elect to discuss multicultural issues.
“These issues included bullying, supporting teachers, modernizing curriculums, and violence in Chicago. I feel it is important to have a direct line of communication with our future President if we truly want change,” tweeted the famous rapper.
