Zac Posen is the latest designer to speak up regarding the very controversial subject of dressing First Lady, Melania Trump.
While designers such as Karl Lagerfeld and Ralph Lauren have openly said that they would put their political differences aside and dress the First Lady, it looks like Zac Posen is joining Tom Ford in staying as far away from the First Family as possible…
“I have no current plans to dress members of the First Family,” he told The Daily Beast.
“Right now, I’m staying away from bringing my brand into politics.
“There are issues that are being questioned that are fundamentally upsetting to me — deeply: LGBT rights, immigration, funding for the arts, Planned Parenthood, and women’s rights.
“These are just issues that are very close to my heart, and I use my own private voice and funds to fight for them and in support of them. I think it’s important to use your voice. I think that every brand and person has a right to be vocal.
“I am very upset with the state of affairs right now. I always try to be optimistic. I think freedom will prevail. And I don’t dictate who buys my clothing in a store.”
So to summarize – Zac Posen has no immediate desire to dress Melania Trump or any other member of the First Family for that matter.
But if someone were to head to a store, hand over the credit card and purchase an outfit (like she is thought to have done when she stepped out in Michael Kors a few weeks ago) then he accepts that there isn’t a lot he can say or do about it.
Let’s leave it there…
