Amy Schumer is not one to hold back.
That might just be the understatement of the century but you get where we are going with this. She tells it like it is and doesn’t care who she offends along the way. She’s our kind of girl!
This is why we were beyond excited when we learned that she will be appearing on the Ellen DeGeneres show tonight, and the recent trolling/weight shaming that she has experienced after it was revealed that she might play the role of Barbie in a new film, was undoubtedly a hot topic of conversation in the pre-recorded interview…
“A bunch of times throughout my career, people have been like, you’re too fat or just, I’ve been bullied,” she told Ellen. “And what’s cool is, from being in the public eye for this long, is people – first of all, you build up a thicker skin from it and then you’re like, wait a minute, no.
“I look in the mirror, and I know who I am and I feel beautiful, and I feel strong and sexy. And the people I think online trolling are in more pain that we can possibly imagine.”
We’ve always had that hunch too, Amy…
“It just never stops,” she continued. “It really has to be about knowing who you are, and every day I look in the mirror and I’m like, ‘I can work with this’”
We love Amy, and will shout from the rooftops with glee if she does in fact end up playing Barbie.
