Ivanka Trump criticised for supporting Oprah’s Golden Globes speech

Oprah’s exceptionally moving and powerful speech was one of the undeniable highlights of Sunday night’s Golden Globes, with people around the world congratulating her for her deep and emotional words.

One of those people just so happened to be First Daughter Ivanka Trump, who voiced her love of Oprah’s speech – which was largely based on gender equality – on Twitter.

She wrote:

“Just saw @Oprah’s empowering & inspiring speech at last night’s #GoldenGlobes. Let’s all come together, women & men, & say #TIMESUP! #United”

However, as you can probably imagine, it didn’t go down too well on social media…

Celebs and members of the general public all came together to slam the First Daughter for her somewhat hypocritical support. Some celebs, like Alyssa Mylano for example, offered constructive comments, while others simply voiced their disapproval for the First Family in general. Yes Chrissy Teigen, we’re looking at you…

@Alyssa_Milano

“Great! You can make a lofty donation to the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund that is available to support your father’s accusers.”

@chrissyteigen

“ew go away”

@natasharothwell

“@IvankaTrump your dad’s a predator”

@issieebee

“So, does this mean you’re going to aid your father’s victims in bringing him to justice?

If not—have two seats because you are contributing nothing to the conversation that isn’t empty, devoid of any true feeling or sentiment, and, frankly, distasteful.”

@Florenceofarabi

“Excellent idea! You can start with your father!! #TIMESUP”

@zeruch

“You do realize every time you do this Ivanka you just highlight your own hypocrisy and the Staggering levels of venal opportunism your surname embodies. You will be remembered in history very poorly, which is what you deserve.”

Ouch! Thoughts?
