Jennifer Holliday stands by LGBT community and won’t perform at Trump inauguration

Add Jennifer Holliday to the list of singers who have refused to sing at Donald Trump’s inauguration.

Although the Broadway singer (she starred in Dreamgirls back in eighties and was absolutely phenomenal!) had originally agreed to perform, she has since changed her mind because of her allegiance with the LGBT community and Trump’s obvious stance against them…

“My only choice must now be to stand with the LGBT Community and to state unequivocally that I WILL NOT PERFORM FOR THE WELCOME CONCERT OR FOR ANY OF THE INAUGURATION FESTIVITIES,” she said in an exclusive interview with TheWrap.

“I was honestly just thinking that I wanted my voice to be a healing and unifying force for hope through music to help our deeply polarised country.

“Regretfully, I did not take into consideration that my performing for the concert would actually instead be taken as a political act against my own personal beliefs and be mistaken for support of Donald Trump and Mike Pence.”

Probably a very wise decision given the way celebrity Trump supporters have been singled out and attacked on social media for their political views. Just look at poor Zoe Saldana…

It still remains to be seen which musicians will actually perform at the ceremony, as they seem to be dropping like flies.
