Jimmy Kimmel announced as Oscars 2017 host

Looks like the Oscars 2017 are going to have us all in stitches, as comedian Jimmy Kimmel has just been announced as the host for the 89th Annual Academy Awards. Congrats, Jimmy!

The ceremony will be produced by Emmy and Oscar nominated duo Michael De Luca and Jennifer Todd, who were only too happy to back Jimmy for the job…

“Jimmy’s ability to connect with people is what makes him a singular choice for this job,” they said about the comedian.

“His frank observations, relatable persona, wry humor and love of all kinds of film make him a natural fit for the Oscars stage.”

We couldn’t agree more. We think Jimmy is just the person to bring the ratings back up. Last year’s ceremony was hosted by Chris Rock and had the lowest ratings in eight years. Not cool.

If Jimmy’s recent gig as Emmy’s host is anything to go by, we predict the ratings are going to be sky high.

Let’s just hope there aren’t any racial controversies this time…
