It might come as a surprise to most people, but Lady Gaga’s incredible, jaw-dropping and even gravity-defying performance at the Super Bowl wasn’t praised by everyone.
In fact, some Twitter users actually body shamed the singer, when she revealed the tiniest hint (we really do mean tiny. You’ll probably need a magnifying glass to see it) of overhang while wearing incredibly tiny shorts.
Some of the comments included:
“Just feel like #Gaga’s dough should’ve been tucked in better.”
“You guys didn’t tell me Gaga had a beer belly.”
Understandably, her fans were quick to jump to her defence. Perhaps one of our favourite comments is the one below:
“Anyone who is saying anything about Gaga’s “belly/flab/gut/etc” is required to post a swimsuit pic for us to dissect.”
Lady Gaga wasn’t sitting at home crying about the comments. Instead, she took to Instagram to clear things up and get her opinion out there…
“I heard my body is a topic of conversation so I wanted to say, I’m proud of my body and you should be proud of yours too, no matter who you are or what you do,” she began.
“I could give you a million reasons why you don’t need to cater to anyone or anything to succeed. Be you, and be relentlessly you. That’s the stuff of champions. thank you so much everyone for supporting me. I love you guys. Xoxo, gaga.”
Way to go, Lady Gaga. We hope the body shamers are well and truly ashamed of themselves!
