Following a series of health complication, famous actress Mary Tyler Moore has passed away at a Connecticut hospital surrounded by her family and loved ones.
Mara Buxbaum, Mary’s longtime rep, has released a statement in which she addressed the death of the legendary actress. “Today, beloved icon, Mary Tyler Moore, passed away at the age of 80 in the company of friends and her loving husband of over 33 years, Dr. S. Robert Levine. A groundbreaking actress, producer, and passionate advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Mary will be remembered as a fearless visionary who turned the world on with her smile,” the statement read.
Mary has not been in good health for some time, and was recently hospitalized with complications from diabetes. She had a long and successful career in television, winning seven Emmy awards. She is most famous for a sitcom in which she starred in, called “The Mary Tyler Moore Show.” This sitcom had a lot of impact on television in general, as it was the first show to be centered on an independent career woman. It has since become a classic, with the Writers Guild of America ranking it number 6 on their list of the 101 Best Written TV Series of All Time.
