You know that internet meme, the one about “I don’t want to live on this planet anymore”?
Well, now you know it and today’s news is very similar, as we just got word about a little girl threatened by a man over her lemonade and cookie stand. The hero-vigilante said he’ll call the cops on the girl, due to her lacking a business permit. This Kafkian piece of news arrived to us courtesy of the SFGate.
The story goes something like this, as per the girl’s father talking to a SFGATE reporter:
“Whoever the man is who threatened to call the police on my daughter for her lemonade stand, you are seriously pathetic.
“There is a right way to do things and a wrong way to do things.
I understand that you were upholding the “law” but really dude?”
The little girl from Discover Bay was trying to make an honest buck by setting up her own lemonade stand on public property. Her parents told her she could stay there for an hour. However, she was soon disturbed by a man who appeared to be triggered by the girl’s precocious capitalistic mindset. According to the father (Richard LaRouche), the story went on like this:
“The man just pulled up next to her and asked for her business license and then told her ‘I’m calling the police’ and then got on the phone and began speaking as if he was talking to police.”
“She was so scared that she came home crying and sobbing and said she didn’t want to go to jail. When she came home crying I told her that some people are just negative and are looking to bring others down.I told her how much our community supported her when I posted what happened.””She was so surprised and encouraged. We set up a second lemonade stand on our property (on Friday) and she was busy the whole three hours.Ran out of cookies and had just enough lemonade for the last two police officers.
A large pie to the face comes to mind regarding the “squealer”. Kudos to the young girl for persevering. When she grows up to start a business, she might have to deal with that kind of overbearingly threatening, unhelpful bureaucrat again, even if in a different reincarnation/form factor.
But then he’d try to shut down her business over soda taxes, not having an access ramp, not listing the calorie content of her lemonade, etc.
Well, that’s the world we live in and the girl should get used to it. You can’t just set up a lemonade stand anywhere you want! You have to go through months of approvals. She needs to learn about all the regulations. Her table is clearly not up to code. And were the lemonade and cookies made in an approved kitchen? I doubt it. You might need to hire legal experts, kid.
If she wants to sell lemonade anytime before say, 2019, she needs to get going with the schmoozing asap. She will need some friends at City Hall. Good luck, kid!
