Matt Damon admits he and Ben Affleck knew about Harvey Weinstein’s Gwyneth Paltrow assault

Ben Affleck has already come under fire for keeping quiet about Harvey Weinstein’s sexually predatory actions – and now Matt Damon has also gone into further detail about what he and his friend knew back in the day.

During an interview with Good Morning America‘s Michael Strahan yesterday, he explained that he knew what happened to Gwyneth Paltrow because she dated Ben Affleck shortly after it happened.

She was dating Brad Pitt during the time of the sexual harassment…

“I knew the story about Gwyneth from Ben because he was with her after Brad Pitt,” he said.

“But I was working with Gwyneth and Harvey on The Talented Mr Ripley.

“Ben told me, but I knew that they had come to whatever agreement or understanding they had come to.

“She had handled it and she was the first lady of Miramax and he treated her incredibly respectfully always.”

Matt Damon also said that although he thought Harvey Weinstein was a “bully” and a “womaniser”, he was unaware of the other allegations against him, claiming that he thought the Gwyneth Paltrow thing was a one off.

Ben Affleck addressed the issue earlier this month, writing on Facebook:

“I am saddened and angry that a man who I worked with used his position of power to intimidate, sexually harass and manipulate many women over decades.”
