Mariah Carey’s disastrous performance on New Year’s Eve has pretty much been all we have been talking about for the past four days – but the diva herself has finally spoken out to try and put this to bed once and for all.
And judging by her comments, it looks like she is standing by her team’s reports that Dick Clark Productions – the company responsible for putting on the ‘New Year’s Rockin’ Eve’ show – purposely sabotaged her performance for extra ratings…
“All I can say is Dick Clark was an incredible person and I was lucky enough to work with him when I first started in the music business,” she told Entertainment Weekly yesterday.
“I’m of the opinion that Dick Clark would not have let an artist go through that and he would have been as mortified as I was in real time.
“It really was an incredible holiday season that turned into a horrible New Year’s Eve.
“It’s not going to stop me from doing a live event in the future. But it will make me less trusting of using anyone outside of my own team.”
That’s the spirit, Mariah!
Regardless of who showed up to the rehearsals or whether certain earpieces were or weren’t working, we’re glad that MC has tried to put this behind her… we look forward to her next (hopefully drama-free) live performance.
Let’s never speak of this again!
