The NBA star that plays for the Cleveland Cavalier’s recently had some difficult news to share with the public. In a video posted to Uninterrupted, Smith and his wife revealed that she gave birth to their third child five months early.

In the video, his wife Jewel can be seen breaking the news to the public. “Hi, everybody, we decided to share with the world what’s been going on with our family the past five days. We know a lot of you guys congratulated us on the expectancy of our little baby girl, but we had her five months early. She’s five days old today and her name is Dakota and she weighs one pound,” said Jewel about her recent experience.

“We know we’re not the only family going through this, who has been through this, and who will ever go through it. That’s why we decided to share what we’re going through with you guys. Please keep us in your prayers and we’ll do the same for everyone else,” Jewel continued.

The couple broke the news that they were expecting another baby back in October, just after Smith announced that he would be re-signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The professional basketball player is currently recovering from surgery on his right thumb and may not be playing professionally for another three months. He addressed this issue in the video simply by saying that “it is what it is.” He also thanked the fans for their concern and support.
