Just yesterday, we told you that Paris Hilton had made some controversial comments about Donald Trump, including how the women who claimed they were sexually assaulted by him were just doing it for “fame” and “attention”.
But today, the heiress has spoken out about how her comments – which although were only just published, were taken from an interview that took place last year – were taken out of context and not delivered in the way she “intended”…
“I want to apologise for my comments from an interview I did last year,” Paris Hilton said in a statement.
They were part of a much longer story and I am regretful that they were not delivered in the way I had intended.
“I was speaking about my own experiences of life and the role of media and fame in our society and it was never my intention for my comments to be misapplied almost a year later.”
The reality TV star then went on to show her support for women around the world – something which may not have come across in the initial interview…
“I always believe in helping women have their voices heard and helping create an environment where women feel empowered and believe in themselves,” she continued.
I am deeply hurt by how this has played out and also deeply sorry.
“Moving forward I will continue to do what I can to be an advocate for girls and women with the hopes of providing a louder voice for those who may desperately need it.”
We have to say that we are relieved that yesterday’s comments weren’t intended in the way they came across. And we are even more relieved that she has taken the time to clear things up and apologise for no doubt offending a great deal of people.
Good on you, Paris Hilton!
