Following all the backlash, Pepsi has decided to pull its controversial commercial starring Kendall Jenner.
The commercial, which came under fire for making light of protests, has now been removed from the brand’s official YouTube channel, and will stop airing on the TV channels it was intended for.
“Pepsi was trying to project a global message of unity, peace and understanding,” the brand said in a statement on its website.
“Clearly we missed the mark and we apologize. We did not intend to make light of any serious issue. We are pulling the content and halting any further roll-out.
“We also apologize for putting Kendall Jenner in this position.”
Although Kendall Jenner has yet to release an official statement about the situation, the model has removed all traces of her work with Pepsi from her social media accounts.
We’re glad Pepsi has done the right thing by removing the advert.
