R. Kelly has found himself in the middle of a media storm, after it was alleged that he was leading a cult of half a dozen women, who he was housing in Chicago and Atlanta, and dictating all aspects of their lives, as well as engaging in “sexual encounters” with them.
The story was first reported by long-time Chicago music journalist, Jim DeRogatis, and allegedly includes real accounts from the people who were there to experience it.
As you can see, a pretty out there story – but one which R Kelly and his reps have finally addressed to try and put an end to…
“Mr. Robert Kelly is both alarmed and disturbed by the recent revelations attributed to him,” R. Kelly’s lawyer, Linda Mensch, told Pitchfork.
“Mr. Kelly unequivocally denies such accusations and will work diligently and forcibly to pursue his accusers and clear his name.
“We can only wonder why folks would persist in defaming a great artist who loves his fans, works 24/7, and takes care of all of the people in his life,” Linda Mensch continued in another statement.
“He works hard to become the best person and artist he can be. It is interesting that stories and tales debunked many years ago turn up when his goal is to stop the violence; put down the guns; and embrace peace and love.
“I suppose that is the price of fame. Like all of us, Mr. Kelly deserves a personal life. Please respect that.”
We don’t think this story is over yet… stay tuned!
