Rihanna named Harvard’s ‘Humanitarian of the Year’

We bet Rihanna has lost count of the amount of music-related accolades she has picked up over the years.

But we bet she will hold this one close to her heart, as it’s the highly sought after Harvard University  ‘Humanitarian of the Year’ award. Way to go, RiRi!

“Rihanna has charitably built a state-of-the-art centre for oncology and nuclear medicine to diagnose and treat breast cancer at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Bridgetown, Barbados,” said S Allen Counter, the Harvard Foundation’s director.

“She has also created the Clara and Lionel Foundation Scholarship Program [named after her grandparents] for students attending college in the US from Caribbean countries, and supports the Global Partnership for Education and Global Citizen Project, a multiyear campaign that will provide children with access to education in over 60 developing countries, giving priority to girls and those affected by lack of access to education in the world today.”

Not such a bad girl after all!

Rihanna is set to collect her award from Harvard University on February 28.

Congratulations Rihanna – we look forward to more incredible acts of kindness in the future!
