Selena Gomez finally talks about taking Justin Bieber back, and still being “best friends” with ex The Weeknd

Selena Gomez is usually a very private person, but she really opened up in her latest interview for Billboard, which coincided with her Billboard ‘Woman of the Year’ award.

Although she opened up about a lot of subjects in the long and heartfelt interview, it was what she said about reuniting with old flame Justin Bieber that got the most attention…

“I’m 25. I’m not 18, or 19, or 20. I cherish people who have really impacted my life,” she began, suggesting that she never stopped caring for her ex.

“So maybe before, it could have been forcing something that wasn’t right. But that doesn’t mean caring for someone ever goes away.

“I think a true representation of love is beyond just yourself. It’s me going to get coffee earlier this morning and talking with a woman who was celebrating her birthday and going to Disneyland for the first time. I told her about my favourite things there, and she got excited, and then I got excited because she was excited. The littlest things are impactful.”

So where does this leave things with ex, The Weeknd?

“I truly have never experienced anything like that in my life,” she said of her ten-month relationship with The Weeknd.

“We ended it as best friends, and it was genuinely about encouraging and caring for each other. And that was pretty remarkable for me.”

Her words are very interesting, because the interview suggests that they are the best of friends post-split. However since the interview was conducted, both Selena and The Weeknd have unfollowed each other on Instagram. Make of that what you will…
