Well, this is interesting…
Sharon Stone of all people has come to James Franco’s defence over those sexual assault allegations.
His former co-star opened up on the WTF Podcast with Marc Maron, saying she was “appalled” by the allegations made by five women a few months ago.
She referred specifically to an accusation made by one of the actresses who was also dating James Franco…
“I’m appalled by this thing about him that’s happening,” she began.
“I don’t know how the girlfriend can say that she’s offended that he asked for a blow job while they’re dating and now, all of a sudden, he’s a bad guy.
“I don’t know how the girlfriend can say that she’s offended that he asked for a blow job while they’re dating and now, all of a sudden, he’s a bad guy.”
“I gotta tell you: I worked with him. I know him. He’s the loveliest, kindest, sweetest, elegant, nicest man; most kind friend, lovely professional.
“I’m absolutely appalled by this.”
As you can imagine, Sharon Stone has received quite a bit of criticism for defending someone who has been accused of sexual misconduct, especially as she is a public supporter of the #MeToo movement.
“People can be nice to their coworkers and friends, yet still be rapists and abusers (hell, even murderers). Abusers don’t abuse everyone they know,” wrote @1895neverdies on Twitter.
“In fact, abusers make an effort to be especially charismatic and likable so their very real abusive behavior is less believable.”
Where do you guys stand?
Was Sharon Stone right to defend her Disaster Artist co-star, or should she have believed the five women who came forward as victims instead?
