It looks like Adele is not the only one who believes that Beyoncé deserved to win the Album of the Year award at the 2017 Grammys. When Adele got on stage to accept her Album of the Year award, she told the audience that she believes it should go to Beyoncé.
Now, Beyoncé’s sister has decided to speak up on the matter. Solange recently got on Twitter to talk about her sister’s Album of the Year snub. “There have only been two black winners in the last 20 years for album of the year. There have been over 200 black artists who have performed,” Solange tweeted.
“Create your own committees, build your own institutions, give your friends awards, award yourself, and be the gold you wanna hold my g’s,” the singer continued.
While it was expected for Solange to support her sister, we certainly did not expect Adele to talk about Beyoncé’s album when she got on stage to accept her award. After the ceremony, Adele caught up with the press to talk about her acceptance speech. “Like I said in my speech, my Album of the Year is Lemonade. So, a piece of me did die inside, as a Beyoncé fan – not going to lie. I was completely rooting for her, I voted for her. I felt like it was her time to win. What the f–k does she have to do to win Album of the Year?” Adele was quoted saying.
