We’ve barely been able to contain our excitement for the royal wedding ever since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s engagement became official yesterday.
But we still have so many unanswered questions, including what the proposal was like, and how the Prince finally knew he found the one.
Luckily, thanks to their joint interview for the BBC yesterday, we got the answers we were looking for, and so much more…
“It was just an amazing surprise, so sweet and natural and very romantic,” Meghan said of the proposal.
When asked whether she said yes right away, Meghan said, “as a matter of fact I could barely let him finish proposing, I was like ‘Can I say yes now?'”
Harry then stepped in to add that “she didn’t even let me finish, she just said ‘Can I say yes? Can I say yes?’ Then there were hugs and I had the ring on my finger and I asked, ‘Can I give you the ring?’ and she said ‘Oh yes the ring!’ It was a really nice moment. It was just the two of us and I think I managed to catch her by surprise as well.”
Oh, and of course he got down on one knee! Prince Harry then continued to gush about his soon-to-be-bride, telling the interviewer that he fell in love with the Suits actress “so incredibly quickly” when they met 18 months ago.
“The fact that I fell in love with Meghan so incredibly quickly was sort of confirmation to me that all the stars were aligned, that everything was perfect,” he continued.
“There was this beautiful woman who literally tripped and fell into my life and I fell into her life, and the fact that I know she’ll be unbelievably good at the job part of it as well, is obviously a huge relief to me because she’ll be able to deal with everything else that comes with it.”
Aww, you guys! You can watch the loved-up couple’s joint interview below.
