Tom Ford has famously gone on record to say that he has no desire to dress First Lady Melania Trump, and he isn’t the only one.
We don’t know quite where avid Hillary Clinton supporter Michael Kors stands or whether he will purposely gift the First Lady an outfit… but what happens if she buys one herself and decides to wear it to a big event?
Well, that’s exactly what happened last night when Donald Trump gave his first ever presidential speech to Congress…
Melania Trump wore a sharp, black belted Michael Kors skirt suit costing something in the region of $10,000 as she watched her husband deliver his speech. But what did Michael Kors think about her sartorial decision?
Turns out that he was pretty gracious about it…
“Mrs. Trump has been a longtime client at our New York boutique,” Michael Kors began.
“She has a keen understanding of what works best for her and her lifestyle.
“My embroidered black suit reflects the streamlined glamour that she is known for.”
How very diplomatic of you, Mr Kors.
Nothing in that statement suggests that the outfit was made especially for Melania Trump, or that it was a gift. But it also indicates that the designer and his brand are happy to have the First Lady’s custom, and that she wears the outfit pretty well, too.
Nothing wrong with that, eh?
