The internet giant Amazon was caught red-handed deleting hundreds of one-star reviews of Hillary Clinton’s new book “What Happened”. This flagrant intervention seems to be a desperate try to boost the sales of Hillary’s memoir, as it looks like Amazon is carefully monitoring and deleting all one-star (as negative as it gets) reviews, as reported by the Telegraph.
“What Happened” was received with “mixed emotions” since day one, being “greeted” with a wave of criticism by a number of readers accusing Hillary Clinton of playing (again) the victim card and blaming others for her failed presidential campaign. By others Hillary means basically the whole world: the FBI, James Comey, the Russians, Vladimir Putin, Bernie Sanders, Alex Jones, social media, Facebook, anything and everything but herself.
Even the failing New York Times scorned Hillary’s latest lament, describing it as “a score-settling jubilee”. It’s amazing to observe how few 1-star reviews of “What Happened” have remained undeleted by Amazon, but this is not the first time when the company intervenes “en force” to adjust the reviews/ratings of its products. The same happened with Megyn Kelly’s book, when Amazon also appeared to slash negative comments, but let that go. With regard to Hillary’s book, an Amazon official told Fortune:
“In the case of a memoir, the subject of the book is the author and their views. It’s not our role to decide what a customer would view as helpful or unhelpful in making their decision. We do however have mechanisms in place to ensure that the voices of many do not drown out the voices of a few and we remove customer reviews that violate our community guidelines.”
If you think that Amazon would never do that, i.e. go on the internet and skew the ratings on its products, check out Hillary’s book rating as of 10:31am:
And then again as of 14:55pm:
Currently, the book looks pristine clean, with an overall rating of 4.9 stars based on 506 reviews from customers. Following Amazon’s purge, one can argue that neither the five star reviews nor the one star reviews can be described as “legit”, but merely a biased attempt to create an either positive or negative perception in regard to Clinton’s new book.
However, Amazon claims that none of the 1 star reviewers (the deleted ones presumably) have actually bought the book, i.e. the verified purchase thingy which proves a person has purchased the product is reviewing was missing, hence the deletion of the comments.
Funny, there have been troll reviews of products on Amazon since their inception and hordes of people asking Amazon to pull out those obvious trolling remarks but with no action. But Lordy, they are working overtime to weed out the trolls who are bashing Hillary and her book. Pretty disgusting.
You aren’t supposed to have a political agenda, Amazon. You are supposed to sell stuff.
