Speaking of horrible statements, this one is among the top ten this year: the attorney who defended Kate Steinle’s killer, an illegal alien named Jose Ines Garcia Zarate, made a stunning statement on Thursday night, lashing out at those who were outraged at both the killing of Kate and the not-guilty verdict.
To put things into perspective, back in 2015, on July 1, 32 year old Kate Steinle was killed (shot dead) by Garcia Zarata (he never denied it by the way) as she was strolling with her father on Pier 14 in the Embarcadero district in San Francisco, California. Yesterday, a San Francisco jury acquitted the illegal alien, deeming him innocent of both murder and manslaughter.
Following the jury’s shocking decision, Garcia Zarate’s attorney Francisco Ugarte made a statement during which he accused those outraged by the murder of Kate Steinle of being racist:
Attorney Francisco Ugarte: I believe today is a vindication of the rights of immigrants. That today we have to reflect all of us on how we talked about this case in the beginning. And how this swarm of reflection and reaction on the basis of what I believe to be the racial dynamics of this case. Nothing about Garcia Zarate’s ethnicity, nothing about his immigration status, nothing about the fact that he was born in Mexico had any relevance on what happened on July 1, 2015.
This is as stupid as it gets. If Zarate would have been deported from the United States, as per ICE’s request, instead of being protected by San Francisco (sanctuary city) officials, Kate Steinle would have been alive today.
If he was back across the border in Mexico where he belonged, none of this would have happened. He was an ILLEGAL ALIEN who had been deported 5 times; what planet does this attorney live on to believe it had no relevance to the case?
The thing is, attorneys lie for a living, they call it “advocacy”. Some of them are quite good at and successfully hold sway over those incapable of critical thinking; something schools stopped teaching long ago. But don’t blame the juries, blame the judges that let them get away with it.
