Baltimore Murder Rate Spikes from Lack of Police Presence

Speaking of law and order, at the end of 2017, the Democrat run city of Baltimore reported a total figure of 343 homicides. This number is huge considering Baltimore’s population. The city’s murder rate went through the roof in the aftermath of Black Lives Matter starting justifying violence as a revenge of sorts against police following the death of 25 year old Freddie Gray back in 2015. Freddie Gray has died while transported in a police van in suspect circumstances. Now, guess who Baltimore’s residents are blaming for the huge murder rate: predictably, the answer is ‘the police’, or more specifically a lack of police-action in their city, which by the way is exactly what Black Lives Matter called for in the first place.

After Baltimore PD pulled back from the city’s streets following the riots and violence against law-enforcement in 2015, the murder rate skyrocketed, hitting a record high with regard to per capita homicide rate. As per a NPR report , the city’s residents are now complaining about a lack of police presence in the streets. Here’s reverend Kinji Scott:

“We wanted the police there. We wanted them engaged in the community. We didn’t want them beating the hell out of us, we didn’t want that. We need the front line police officers and we need the heart of the black community to step to the forefront of this discussion. And that’s when we’re going to see a decrease in crime. And of course we want to delineate the whole culture of bad policing that exists — nobody denies that — but as a result of this, we don’t see the level of policing we need in our community to keep the crime down in our cities that we are seeing bleed to death.”

Black Lives Matter activists swarmed Baltimore following Freddie Gray’s death, with some of them asking for law enforcement to be disarmed. Other protesters showed off tee shirts celebrating a fugitive cop-killer,Assata Shakur, AKA Joanne Chesimard respectively. Some rally-goers sported shirts that said “Fuck the Police” and so forth and so on. If you ask me, explicitly calling for the police to be disarmed, not to mention Black Lives Matter’s aggressive talk regarding police killings (not to mention actual assassinations by BLM operatives) can’t help much when it comes to engaging law enforcement in proactive policing, thus the end result being a predictable spike in murder rates.

In the 60s (that other time in our history when liberals blamed everything that went wrong on cops) there was a saying: “If you hate the cops so much, next time you need help, call a hippie.” Same thing should be said today, but it would read “if you hate the cops that much, next time you need help call Colin Kaepernick/your local liberal activist/Black Lives Matter/MS13/Nancy Pelosi/ ” etc!

People in black neighborhoods want the cops to protect them from gang members and drug dealers so long as they don’t ever use force against said gang members and drug dealers. Those positions are mutually exclusive. Protection by its nature requires the use of force. People need to be more cooperative with the police. They also need to understand that in a high crime neighborhood there is a greater level of suspicion by the police toward certain behaviors; it’s called profiling and that’s how policing works.
