Dear liberals, if you thought that the worst was over for your kind, well, you were wrong, as usual. The show must go on and today we have news about another explosive upcoming executive order courtesy of President Donald Trump.
According to the draft of the respective executive action, a draft which is circulating in the White House by Trump’s administration officials, this one has the potential to provoke a veritable firestorm and waves of liberal tears. It goes something like this:
According to a report from the Wall Street Journal, Trump’s upcoming executive order will potentially allow the denial of services to transgenders and gay people and also for contraception coverage for employees.
The new executive order is called “Establishing a Government-Wide Initiative to Respect Religious Freedom and it’s aimed at dramatically expand the legal protection for employers, organizations or average Joe’s (as in individuals) on the grounds of their religious beliefs.
Truth be told, the new exec order was not signed yet and it may actually never arrive on the President’s desk, but according to various advocacy groups, this draft order makes for a broad statement of intent from The Donald and a pat on the back for his conservative Christian voters, who were promised during Trump’s campaign that the role of religion will be expanded in public life.
Christian organizations were asking for legal protection for many years with regard to their claims about religious objections when it comes to providing various services. Let’s remember the famous (very recent ) case with the Texas bakery sued for “illegally” discriminating against a gay couple. Kern’s Bakery refused to make a wedding cake for a gay couple as such type of marriage goes against Christian beliefs. She was forced to comply by a judge and there goes freedom of association folks.
The new executive order is also directed at federal agencies and instructs them to avoid potential violations in cases regarding Religious Freedom, instructing government officials not to coerce individuals or religious entities into participating in activities that are violating their religious beliefs or conscience.
Trump said during a speech at the National Prayer Breakfast on Thursday morning
“I will get rid of and totally destroy the Johnson Amendment and allow our representatives of faith to speak freely and without fear of retribution,”
We’ll just have to wait and see what happens next, but one thing is very clear: President Donald Trump is doing what he vowed to do prior to his election and this simple fact is regarded as something preposterous by his opponents.
For now, this exec-action is still in its trial-balloon stage, but depending on the American people’s reaction, i.e. if grass roots support will emerge sooner or later, it’s probable that The Donald will sign it thus dismantling Barack Obama’s progressive agenda one more time and unleashing a wave of angry protests from the liberals, which is always a joy to see.
