On the weird side of the news, a student radio show host was yanked from air and the show suspended after he used the word “tranny”. This strange event took place at University of Minnesota-Morris, where campus officials threatened the student radio host with cancellation and called the police on him.

As per The College Fix report, the show in question is hilariously dubbed “Deplorable Radio”, making for a weekly appearance on KUMM network. The Deplorable Radio is hosted by 2 students attending the University of Minnesota-Morris: Tayler Lehmann and Brandon Albrecht. The two students described their radio show as a mixture of music, politics and some random musings/rants with regard to current events, both local and world wide.

Two weeks ago, the duo was notified by the university staff about their show getting cancelled, after Brandon Albrecht was accused of using a controversial word which refers to transgenders on air. The word in question is tranny. Albrecht was quoted as saying during a discussion that was revolving around the “strange” fact that University of Minnesota-Morris has a lack of diversity with regard to Antifa violence, i.e. there’s none of it:

“You know, you can definitely, you see one tranny that’s trying to punch someone. You know it’s automatically that one guy that you know I’m talking about. I bet you know. I’m not going to dox anybody and name them on air. But you two know if I say the tranny who looks like he’s going to punch someone. Yep.”

Fifteen minutes later after that, the station manager together with  a UMMPD officer entered the studio and told the the hosts to leave the premises. They were accused of violating FCC law by using a banned word, that was never allowed on air. The manager (a female student) has said:

“Hey guys, I am just going to have you leave. You said a couple words that break FCC violations. And so for today I am going to have you stop your show. Specifically tranny. That is a hate slur it is not allowed on radio. I need you to leave.”

A week after their show got suspended, the student radio host-duo received an official notification from the university radio station which said:

[they]“were permanently suspended from the radio by executive decision.”

However, the university board claims regarding FCC laws are false, as saying the word tranny is not in violation of FCC rules.
