Democrat Lawmaker Demands Trump’s Impeachment Over NFL Scandal

A Democratic lawmaker from Texas denounced on Tuesday President Trump’s “attack” on National Football League players who are protesting “police brutality” (whatever that means) by kneeling during the national anthem, and he said he will force a vote to impeach the POTUS in the House next week.

Al Green is obviously a member of the Congressional Black Caucus and he announced his plan to force a vote via filing a resolution that will automatically trigger a House floor impeachment vote:

“I rise today as a proud American. A person who believes in his country, who salutes the flag and says the Pledge of Allegiance and sings the national anthem. I will stand here in the well of the Congress, and I will call for the impeachment of the president of the United States of America,”

President Trump renewed the controversy over Colin Kaepernick’s protesting of “police brutality” during his Friday rally in Alabama:

“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. He is fired,’ ”

Al Green considers that the POTUS’ comments are amounting to

“a level of indecency that is unbecoming the presidency.”

and he added:

“I rise to say to the world that this is not what America is all about,”

This is not the first time Al Green threatened to file a resolution to impeach the POTUS, as he did the same back in July, when he signed an article of impeachment that claims the Donald obstructed justice when he fired James Comey.

Obviously, Green has no idea of what the Constitution demands in order for a President to be impeached. But then again, Green’s constituents also don’t know what it takes, so he is scoring points among the totally ignorant. Also, getting a lecture from a member of a racially segregated caucus (the Black Caucus) is contemptible. To reverse it, just picture what would happen if someone tried to start a Congressional White Caucus; they would immediately be branded a racist.

Just a reminder to those who want to say this protest was never about disrespecting the flag or country:

“I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color.”
