According to Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz (a notorious progressive by the way), DEM Senator Dianne Feinstein is totally clueless when she says that President Trump may be charged with obstruction of justice for canning James Comey, former FBI’s director, back in May. Dianne Feinstein was quoted by NBC News on Sunday as saying that Donald Trump fired former FBI’s director Comey just because he did not agree to the President’s request to lift the cloud of the Russia investigation.
And obviously, in Feinstein’s view, this represents an obstruction of justice. Dershowitz told Fox News on Monday that, let me quote:
“You cannot charge a president with obstruction of justice for exercising his constitutional power to fire Comey and his constitutional authority to tell the Justice Department who to investigate, who not to investigate. That’s what Thomas Jefferson did, that’s what Lincoln did, that’s what Roosevelt did. We have precedents that clearly establish that.”
The Harvard law professor issued a dire warning to Congress by saying that if they charged the POTUS with obstruction, they’ll set in motion a Constitutional crisis.
“There’s never been a case in history where a president has been charged with obstruction of justice for merely exercising his constitutional authority”
explained Dershowitz, adding that Feinstein “simply doesn’t know what she’s talking about.”
