DOJ Weighing Federal Charges After Illegal Alien Acquitted in Kate Steinle Murder

The Unites States Department of Justice is now considering slapping federal charges against the illegal alien (deported five times from the US mind you) Jose Ines Garcia Zarate, after the latter was acquitted by a jury on all counts of murder/manslaughter in the Kate Steinle murder trial. Garcia Zarate was cleared by a California jury of all serious charges: murder, involuntary manslaughter and assault with a deadly weapon. The illegal alien was only convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Garcia Zarate aka Juan Francisco Lopez Sanchez was already deported 5 times from the United States and he would have been deported a sixth time, thus preventing the murder of Kate Steinle, provided the authorities in the sanctuary state of California would have cooperated with ICE agents.

Here’s ICE’ official statement following the acquittal of Kate Steinle killer:

“San Francisco’s policy of refusing to honor ICE detainers is a blatant threat to public safety and undermines the rule of law. This tragedy could have been prevented if San Francisco had simply turned the alien over to ICE, as we requested, instead of releasing him back onto the streets. It is unconscionable that politicians across this country continue to endanger the lives of Americans with sanctuary policies while ignoring the harm inflicted on their constituents. Following the conclusion of this case, ICE will work to take custody of Mr. Garcia Zarate and ultimately remove him from the country.”

And here’s President Trump furious reaction at the news that Garcia Zarate was set loose by a “jury of his peers” in one of the most shocking decisions of late:

Sarah Isgur Flores who is a spokeswoman for the DOJ acknowledged on Friday that the Justice Department is considering bringing forth federal charges against the undocumented felon who is currently looking at a three year jail sentence for the firearm charge. Flores said on “Fox & Friends” Friday

“We’re looking at every option and we will prosecute this to the fullest extent of the law because these cases are tragic and entirely preventable. This is a person who had been deported five times—he knew about San Francisco’s sanctuary policies. This is a person that never should have been on that pier, and Kate Steinle would still be alive,”

And here’s Jeff Sessions on the shocking verdict:

When jurisdictions choose to return criminal aliens to the streets rather than turning them over to federal immigration authorities, they put the public’s safety at risk. San Francisco’s decision to protect criminal aliens led to the preventable and heartbreaking death of Kate Steinle. While the State of California sought a murder charge for the man who caused Ms. Steinle’s death—a man who would not have been on the streets of San Francisco if the city simply honored an ICE detainer—the people ultimately convicted him of felon in possession of a firearm.”

Garcia Zarate admitted to him shooting Kate Steinle, i.e. he never denied it, but he said it was a freak accident.
