According to a recent report from the Wall Street Journal, President elect Donald J Trump is already planning “beaucop” changes with regard to multiple US spy agencies, especially the CIA and the ODNI (Office of the Director of National Intelligence).
The Donald’s primary goal is to shrink them significantly. Trump’s transition team is working assiduously on a plan that aims to restructure the Central Intelligence Agency, including cutting staff at CIA’s HQ in Langley, Virginia, together with moving more personnel to field posts all around the world.
According to Donald Trump, the intelligence world and especially the CIA has become completely politicized and that’s going to change in the near future. The WSJ is quoting a source which is close to Donald Trump, an insider of sorts who is well familiarized with the plans cooking in the Trump Tower. Trump’s advisers are working on scaling back the ODNI too, let me quote the insider himself:
“The view from the Trump team is the intelligence world [is] becoming completely politicized. They all need to be slimmed down. The focus will be on restructuring the agencies and how they interact.”
Among the people working on Donald Trump’s plans to revamp the CIA and the ODNI are Mike Pompeo, who was already designated to be the next director of the Central Intelligence Agency and Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, Trump’s national security adviser, who also served in the past as the director of the ODNI until 2013.
The ODNI was created in 2004 with the intent of aiding communication between spy/intelligence agencies in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The task proved to be pretty difficult and many Republicans already suggested revamping the Office of the Director of National Intelligence.
Trump is well known for questioning the CIA’s accuracy in the past, especially regarding the “Iraq incident” in 2002/2003, the Weapons of Mass Destruction meme respectively, which proved to be totally fake news yet it led to a US invasion of Iraq.
More recently, Donald focused on CIA’s claims about Russia’s government meddling in the presidential campaign, blasting the agency for failing to provide a single shred of hard evidence for their grave accusations.
Needless to say, Democrats and large parts of the mainstream media are now presenting President Elect Donald Trump as siding with Russia and/or deliberately dissing the intelligence community.
Interestingly enough, CIA’s former director James Woolsey just announced earlier on Thursday that he will no longer serve in his position as Senior Adviser to President elect Donald Trump, effective immediately. James Woolsey’s abrupt resignation comes one day before The Donald is set to receive a conclusive intel-briefing from CIA officials about Russia’s role in the alleged election hacks.
