FEMA Chief Dings San Juan Mayor, Defends Trump Tweets

A Twitter war ensued between President Trump and that “nasty” San Juan mayor on Saturday, with the POTUS defending his administration’s efforts to help recovery in hurricane hit Puerto Rico, while questioning the leadership of Carmen Yulin Cruz (the mayor). Carmen Yulin Cruz has criticized President Trump’s efforts to help the almost totaled Puerto Rico, saying that he’s not doing enough for getting electricity back to the island, together with supplies and various other relief.

President Trump went on to Twitter on Saturday and blasted Carmen Yulin Cruz for her failed leadership following Hurricane Maria. Then, FEMA’s boss Brock Long defended the POTUS claims during a lengthy interview on CNN, during which he suggested that San Juan mayor has failed to connect with FEMA’s command center that was set up in Puerto Rico in order to coordinate/help with the relief effort.

“The problem that we have with the mayor unfortunately is that unity of command is ultimately what’s needed to be successful in this response,”

“What we need is for the mayor, the good mayor, to make her way to the joint field office and get plugged into what’s going on and be successful. I think that’s the bottom line on that tweet.”

FEMA chief Long told CNN’s Fredricka Whitfield. To put things into perspective, President Trump released a series of angry tweets on Saturday, blasting Carmen Yulin Cruz over her criticism regarding his response to Hurricane Maria which flattened Puerto Rico and destroyed the island’s power grid. Cruz appeared on TV frequently in the last couple of days, demanding more government help. Trump seems to view mayor Cruz as profiting from the crisis for pure political purposes.

The POTUS has been heavily criticized for his tweets by the left and mainstream media pundits, while others in his administration responded forcefully to Cruz’s comments, calling her an opportunistic politician (which is kind of an oxymoron). Knowing how politicians think, it appears like Cruz just wants to take the money and not provide services, during which a lot of the cash finds its way back to the Democrat party networks.

She can’t provide services but she wants the cash. This is what she said while standing in front of a pallet of US aid:

San Juan Mayor: “I’m mad as hell because my people’s lives are at stake… We are dying, and you (Trump) are killing us with inefficiency”

What else does she want, President Trump to go there and hold her hand, eventually handling out water bottles after taking a few selfies together? Why do people keep electing these incompetents is beyond me.

Puerto Rico has been teetering on insolvency for years, an Democrats own all this. Their infrastructure was crumbling prior to Hurricane Maria and they are bankrupt. Puerto Rico’s power company is 6 billion dollars in debt.  Tourism was their only source of revenue and that was their Government fault, not this President’s fault. If you visited you would not want to go beyond a line of some hotels on either side. The rest of that place was pure trash.

Those that wait for their welfare and food stamps will also wait for help to come to them.
