The Germans have a saying: ein mann, ein wort, which translates roughly into “one man, one word”, i.e. a man keeps his word and doesn’t talk much. That’s the German spirit. President Trump used three words, which is not bad at all in this writer’s opinion, when he was asked by a reporter to give his thoughts on the speculation regarding Oprah running for President in the 2020 election.
The reporter asked the POTUS about the buzz surrounding Oprah aka Queen of the Universe during a meeting with members of Congress regarding immigration policies. President Trump answered:
“Yeah, I’ll beat Oprah. Oprah would be lots of fun. I know her very well. You know, I did one of her last shows. … I like Oprah. I don’t think she’s going to run.”
Basically, President Trump burst Democrats’ bubble, as he seems to believe that an Oprah run for presidency is pure fantasy. Following Oprah’s relatively boring and full of platitudes speech at the Golden Globes, the social media/mainstream media speculated that she’ll seek political office in 2020, with sources “familiar with the matter” fueling the fire by saying that she’s interested in such a run. However, a spokesperson for Oprah has said that a run in 2020 is not going to happen.
For the sake of argument, what she’s run on? Freebies? Vote for me and I’ll make sure you have the keys to a new Pontiac G-6 sedan? Overturning all the Trump policies that are huge success?
