High Profile Accounts Suspended by YouTube in ‘Technical Error’

Several high-profile accounts were suspended by YouTube on Thursday in what has been described by the Google owned company as a very bad technical glitch. Among the popular accounts that got “zucced” we must enumerate  Styxenhammer666 (183,000 subscribers), Drama Alert (3.1 million subscribers) and IDubbbz (5.8 million subscribers).

The social media exploded in shock and awe at the news:

The fan-base of the “not very politically correct” accounts that got shutdown on Thursday went on to accuse YouTube of intentionally censoring right-wing/conservatives, just like they did on numerous occasions lately; however, other popular pro-establishment YouTubers were briefly suspended from the platform too, the likes of  Conan O’Brien Show and even Miley Cyrus’ VEVO account. Following the strange incident, YouTube claimed via  an official statement that:

“As we were working through changes in our Community Guidelines enforcement systems we mistakenly suspended several channels. Our teams worked quickly to reinstate these channels and most were reinstated within an hour. We’re sorry for any confusion this caused.”

It looks like YouTube and Google are implementing software that reads users’ private data/docs/videos/whatever as the companies are looking for TOS violations; that resulted in temporary suspension/expulsion of users from the platform. Or, judging from previous experience, the term “technical issue” means a rogue employee did the damage.

However, all things aside, this appears to be more like a demonstration of what can happen to you if you don’t play ball.
