Kid Rock disappointed a lot of his fan-base as he announced on Tuesday that he’ll not be running for Senator in Michigan in 2018, after numerous polls saw him running toe to toe with the DEM Senator Stabenow. Truth be told, having Kid Rock in the US Senate would have been very interesting, to say the least.
His decision was announced on Howard Stern’s radio show, during which Robert James Ritchie also known as Kid Rock broke the sad news that despite early polling depicting him as an almost guaranteed winner, the whole thing was a joke campaign announcement of sorts.
Kid Rock shocked the political world last summer, as he claimed on multiple occasions that he was seriously considering a run for the Michigan Senate seat, which is currently occupied by Democratic Senator Debbie Stabenow. Interestingly enough, he later admitted the whole thing to be an elaborate joke, yet the overwhelming positive response he received from the American public made him to seriously consider that option.
However, now it looks he was joking when he said that too…
Howard Stern asked him about the current status of his bid, and sadly enough, Kid Rock mocked all his fans who took him seriously:
“Fuck no, I’m not running for Senate. Are you kidding me? Who couldn’t figure that out? I’m releasing a new album. I’m going on tour too. Are you fuckin’ shittin’ me?”
“It’s the worst advice I ever gave myself, but it’s been the most creative thing I’ve ever done. And I’ve gotten to see everyone’s true colors.”
