Tom Steyer, also known as Mr. Impeach the President, is a left wing billionaire and a megadonor for the Democratic party. On Friday, Tom Steyer announced he’s not doing it anymore, i.e. he’ll stop funding the left after Democratic Party leaders failed (in his vision) to keep the federal government shut down until a DACA deal would’ve been reached. The compromise that reopened the government was too much for Tom Steyer’s money so to speak, who is well known for his generous funding of Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign in 2016.
The hardcore leftist billionaire told Fortune Magazine that he can no longer donate money to a party that doesn’t stand up to its principles.
“I don’t have a litmus test on any one thing, but I do have a litmus test for elected officials standing on principle and doing the right thing, looked at holistically”
Tom Steyer emphasized he’ll stop financing the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, the Democratic National Committee and the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee altogether.
And I want to say that after the DACA vote I have decided not to give anything to the national party committees
The billionaire added that while he’s cutting the aid for the DEMs, he’ll redouble his efforts to get President Trump impeached.
At this point what we’ve seen from the party committees is we are at a point where we can definitely stand up for what we think is right more directly by the programs that we’re doing
said Steyer, adding that dumping money on Democrats at this point is a waste of resources. Now, if you ask me, Steyer realized he was backing a losing team. But, it had nothing to do with “principles”. Steyer’s political activism has always been to support his business interests. He funded Democrats to oppose the Keystone XL pipeline because he was an investor in a competing Trans Canada pipeline to take the oil to the west coast, instead.
Also, Democrats in his state have rigged it so people like Steyer and his 1% buddies now pay 50% of all state income taxes. Maybe Steyer really thought at some point that his money were used to fight climate change – until he found out he was just propping up bloated government union workers.
