Nicole Kidman said that Americans should support President-elect Donald Trump, Fox News reported.
The actress, who holds dual Australian and American citizenship, said that it is time to accept the results of the election.
Born in Hawaii, Kidman raised in Australia. She now lives in Nashville with her country superstar husband.
On the red carpet for her new film “Lion,” the actress was asked about Trump.
“I just say, [Trump is] now elected and we, as a country, need to support whoever is the president,” Kidman said. “That is what the country is based on. And however that happened, it happened, and let’s go.”
Kidman added that her focus is on women related issues than politics.
“I’m very, very committed to women’s issues, in terms of I do a lot of fundraising for U.N. Women and I do a lot of traveling for them,” the actress said. “I also do an enormous amount of fundraising for breast and ovarian cancer, because that’s something that’s affected my family deeply. So they’re my issues that I’m very attached to.”
Kidman’s opinion is completely different from most of her Hollywood colleagues.
Recently, Meryl Streep was praised by her fellow celebrities for criticizing the President-elect in her Golden Globes acceptance speech.
