With Donald Trump getting ready to Make America Great Again, it looks like reductio ad Hitlerum is back in style with a vengeance, as Pope Bergoglio hinted today at Donald Trump being nothing short than the Fuhrer incarnate.
Yes folks, you got that right, America just elected a dangerous populist, a fake prophet of sorts just like Adolf Hitler fooled the Germans back in 1933.
Well, Pope Bergoglio, that’s like your opinion man, as The Dude would have said after hearing the so called argument against The Donald.
Pope Francis Bergoglio warned once again about Trump’s crazy notion of keeping out foreigners using walls and barbed wire. In case you did not know it yet, Pope Bergoglio lives inside a stone fortress with 50 ft high walls and he’s protected 24/7 by his (heavily armed) Swiss Guard.
But what’s good enough for the Pope, i.e. living inside a fortified compound with huge walls is not good enough for any other people/country, other than the City State of Vatican. Basically, borders are an obsolete concept, something appealing just to plebes, according to Pope Francis’s interview on Saturday.
The Latino-Pope, which marked a premiere for the Catholic Church, and I am talking about electing a non European Pope for the first time in history, gave an hour (too) long interview for El Pais, a left wing Spanish newspaper, warning once again (how many more times dude?) against populism and comparing President Trump with Hitler in not so many words.
He used a feint, ferreting around with words, as he did not actually said that Trump was Hitler, but the message was pretty obvious.
Let’s quote from the holy man himself and judge for yourself at whom he’s hinting:
“Of course crises provoke fears and worries the example of populism in the European sense of the word is Germany in 1933.
Germany… was looking for a leader, someone who would give her back her identity and there was a little man named Adolf Hitler who said ‘I can do it’.”
Hitler did not steal power. He was elected by his people and then he destroyed his people.”
I wonder what populist was elected recently and had his inauguration ceremony yesterday.
However, proving that he’s a man with a strong sense of decency, right after comparing Trump to Hitler, Bergoglio added very shrewdly:
“The case of Germany is classic deformed identity and we know what it produced.”
Let’s see. Let’s see what he does and then we will evaluate,”
Yes Pope Bergoglio, let’s do that before talking nonsense, shall we?
