President Trump received a hero welcome in Poland on Thursday, drawing thunderous applause during his epic speech focused on American and Christian values, a type of presidential discourse I’ve never heard since the Reagan era. The Polish crowd attending the event chanted USA! USA! and Donald Trump! thus repeatedly interrupting President Trump’s remarks.
This made for one of the most important speeches of Donald Trump’s young presidency, as he celebrated the historic alliance between the US and Poland.
“The story of Poland is the story of a people who have never lost hope, who have never been broken and who have never ever forgotten who they are,”
said the POTUS in an address which electrified the Polish people who gathered by the tens of thousands during a beautiful day in Warsaw’s Krasinski Square.

One of the most important moments of the speech was when the US President evoked the story of one million Poles who stood in the same square almost 4 decades ago, while their country was under a despotic communist rule and sang “We want God!”
“Your oppressor’s tried to break you but Poland could not be broken. (Applause) And when the day came on June 2nd, 1979, and 1 million Poles gathered around victory square for their very first mass with their Polish pope, that day every communist in Warsaw must have known that their oppressive system which soon come crashing down. (Applause) They must have known it at the exact moment during Pope John Paul II’s sermon when a million Polish men, women, and children, suddenly raised their voices in the single prayer. A million Polish people did not ask for wealth. They did not ask for privilege. Instead, 1 million Poles saying three simple words: ‘We want God.’”
“We are fighting hard against radical Islamic terrorism, and we will prevail. We cannot accept those who reject our values and use hatred to justify violence against the innocent.”
I can’t remember when was the last time I’ve heard a contemporary Western leader talking about God and western civilization, whose values are the best in the world and worth fighting for. Trump also mentioned NATO and his commitment to honor the now famous Article 5:
“I would point out that the United States has demonstrated not merely with words but with its actions that we stand firmly behind Article 5, the mutual defense commitment.”
