The war in Syria is coming to an end, finally, after President Trump decided to end the Obama-era CIA program which was used for arming the so-called Syrian rebels fighting against Bashar al-Assad’s government. In reality, the vast majority of the “rebels” also known as moderates(the irony is sublime) were/are mercenaries affiliated with basically every Islamic terrorist organization in that part of the world, the likes of Al Qaeda, ISIS, Al-Nusra (basically Al Qaeda in Syria) and so on and so forth. Let’s remember that old saying about one’s freedom fighters are other’s terrorists.
During the Obama presidency, the Nobel peace winner who started 2 wars and destroyed 2 countries (Syria and Libya) creating the massive refugee crisis in Europe and destabilizing the Middle East like no one before him, the United States repeatedly armed/financed/supplied garden variety jihadists fighting in Syria.
But that’s no longer the case, as the covert CIA program used for training and arming terrorists (political correctness be damned) has been ended by the new POTUS. The decision to do so was taken one month ago, during a White House briefing between the Donald, H.R. McMaster (the national security adviser) and CIA’s boss Mike Pompeo. According to WaPo, President Trump decided to phase out CIA’s covert operations in Syria due to him trying to work out a deal with Russia, which sees the full scale assault on Assad’s regime as an attack on its interests in the region.
However, the Pentagon program which trains and supplies various factions fighting against ISIS in Syria will not be ended. President Trump’s decision seems to contradict recent statements made by the US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley and Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. Both of them asserted back in April that there’s no role for Bashar al Assad in a future Syria and also the prospect of a peaceful Syria is out of the question while Assad remains in power.
A number of factions of the Free Syrian Army (FSA), a “moderate” rebel group fighting against the Assad regime were proved to be collaborating with ISIS, and the same goes for other US backed rebels, like Division 30.
And let’s remember now-ousted General Michael T. Flynn (former Defense Intelligence Agency director)’ words, when he said back in 2015 that Barry Obama’s administration has made a, let me quote: willful decision to support terrorists in Syria (fighting against Assad’s govt.).
