President Trump lashed at the National Football League (NFL) during a high-energy political rally in Huntsville, Alabama on Friday night. The rally was aimed at supporting Senator Luther Strange, who is facing a difficult primary battle in the special election which is set to take place on Tuesday next week, and the Donald repeatedly pushed rally attendants to go out and vote for Luther Strange.
But President Trump being Trump, he drifted off-topic for a number of times during his lengthy speech (more than an hour long), and at some point, he complained about NFL players who disrespect the national anthem and the American flag. The Donald was quoted as saying:
“Luther [Strange] and I, and everyone in this arena tonight, are unified by the same great American values. We’re proud of our country. We respect our flag.”
“Wouldn’t you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, to say, ‘Get that son of a bitch off the field right now, he’s fired! He’s fired!”
Following Trump’s proclamation, the crowd chanted USA, USA! and the POTUS continued:
“You know, some owner’s gonna do that. He’s gonna say, ‘That guy who disrespects that flag, he’s fired. They’ll be the most popular person in this country cause that’s a total disrespect of our heritage, that’s a total disrespect of everything that we stand for.”
Strange is locked in a tight fight with his opponent, Alabama Supreme Court chief justice Roy Moore. It’s interesting to notice that Steve Bannon, Trump’s former chief strategist supports Moore and has published a number of negative articles about Luther Strange in Breitbart. Along with Steve Bannon, Sarah Palin and other anti establishment Republicans have openly endorsed Moore, yet the POTUS has maintained during his Alabama speech that:
“Luther is your man to take on Washington.”
“Luther Strange is determined to drain that swamp,”
President Trump seems to be convinced that Luther Strange is a good guy, yet he admitted he would support Moore if he wins the primary.
The speech was 1 hour and 20 minutes long and I watched it all. I was skeptical when I started watching it because so many people were supporting Moore against Strange. As I listened to President Trump, I could see why he was endorsing “Big Luther” Strange.
Then I looked again at who was supporting Moore. Sarah Palin ran as Vice President with John McCain. Ben Carson lost in the primary to Trump. Bannon was for Cruz even after the convention and he and Gorka are currently using Breitbart against Trump to bring him down. Trump won and they need to get over it.
President Trump is a winner and when he says he believes that Strange will have an easier time winning in 2018, is loyal and supports the MAGA agenda, I will take his word for it. The thing is, Moore is a disgraced former judge who was removed twice from the Alabama bench…not California, but Alabama. Do the math. Here’s the whole speech:
